Rama 2 house is a detached house, located in the new suburban area of Bangkok. It is for the extended family of 2 generations, the parents and their grown up children. The house is planned for the children to have their own space for their future families.

The site plan divided the land into 2 parts, the entry forecourt and the main house. The forecourt area contains main entrance and service entrance, service quarter, garage and the large open area for drop off. This forecourt provides transition space before going into the main house.

The main house plan was extended into 4 wings. Each wing faces its own private courtyard. The building envelope is fully opened into their courtyard while the solid walls and operable screens provide privacy from other areas of the house. 6 meter cantilevered roof is provided at the side facing the courtyard. It is performing as the sun shade and also allowing the family to enjoy the open space of the courtyard. The 4 courtyards have different characters with water feature, pool and lush garden with the softscape designed to enhance the character of different seasons.

The organization of space provides privacy for each family member while allowing them to share the joy of living together.
